I didn’t sleep well last night and was worried about not having that extra advantage this morning for my long run. However, I am well rested these days so it didn’t matter much.
I mapped my route in advance and sent it to my husband for safety purposes. I miss calling and receiving calls from my old running buddy (who lives out of the country now!) before solitary runs. We always thought it a good idea that somebody know our route. This, running at different times of day and varying routes are good precautions for all runners!
I began my run with an earband because it was chilly. I didn’t bring sunglasses but immediately regretted it because the sun started poking through as I ran east. By the time I’d hit the top of the panhandle, the air was heating up and the sun was actually out! I planned my route today so I’d have the gradual uphill in the beginning of my run but of course I ended up running down to then home from the beach at the end, uphill, on trails- not the best idea for tired, uncoordinated feet and legs. By the end I was concentrating hard on picking my feet up and not falling in any holes.
The first 20 and last 15 minutes were the hardest, as my body got into the groove, then was tired from the distance. I did 9 min run/ 1 min walk from the start. On my cool down walk home I passed the bus stop and saw that my bus would arrive in 20 minutes. I made it!
I’m already sore but managed to stretch a bit in the shower and will do more when I get to work.
9 1/2 mile run, varied terrain, 1:40
No HRM b/c I left it in my gym bag Tue & it’s still wet. Ick!!
